Adipurush: A Visual Disaster That Ruined the Ramayana

There are a few reasons why the VFX in Adipurush has been criticized.

  • The animation is stiff and unnatural. The movements of the characters and creatures in the teaser look robotic and unrealistic. This is especially noticeable in the fight scenes, where the characters seem to be floating through the air rather than running and jumping.
  • The textures and lighting are poor. The materials in the film look artificial and plastic, and the lighting is flat and unconvincing. This makes the film look cheap and unfinished.
  • The scale is inconsistent. In some scenes, the characters and creatures look life-sized, while in others they look much smaller or larger. This creates a jarring visual effect and makes it difficult to suspend disbelief.
  • The overall quality is subpar. The VFX in Adipurush simply does not meet the standards that we have come to expect from big-budget films. It looks like it was made by a team of inexperienced animators who were working with limited resources.

The film's makers have defended the VFX, saying that it will look better in the final film. However, apart from few color correction changes and some background environment changes, the film was very similar to what we saw in the teaser and since the teaser had already left a bad impression on many viewers, and it gets difficult for the film to recover from that.

It is also worth noting that Adipurush is not the only recent film to have been criticized for its poor VFX. Other films that have been singled out for their bad CGI include The Flash, Morbius, and Avatar: The Way of Water. This suggests that there may be a wider problem with VFX in the film industry. Perhaps studios are rushing to release films without giving the VFX teams enough time to do their jobs properly. Whatever the reason, it is clear that the quality of VFX in films is declining.
